Thor Guard Lightning Detection System



At the New Smyrna Beach Sports Complex, the safety of our participants, spectators, coaches, and officials is our top priority. That's why we utilize the Thor Guard Lightning Prediction and Warning System.

Unlike traditional weather alerts that react to lightning after it occurs, Thor Guard monitors changing atmospheric conditions and can predict the potential for lightning strikes in the area before they happen. When hazardous conditions are detected, the system automatically sounds a warning horn, signaling that all outdoor activities must be suspended and participants should seek appropriate shelter immediately.

Once conditions have improved and it is safe to resume outdoor activities, Thor Guard will sound an "all-clear" signal, allowing play to continue.

By using the Thor Guard system, we are able to make proactive decisions that help protect everyone at our facility from the dangers of lightning and severe weather.

Important: All participants, coaches, officials, and spectators are expected to follow Thor Guard warnings and facility staff instructions when weather alerts are issued.
